WineVision: American Wine in the 21st Century has an objective to make wine more consumer-friendly. To accomplish that, WineVision's "visionaries" believe the industry must "put the consumer first," which will help transform the industry from supply driven to marketing driven.

Our "consumer-first message" contest is designed to assemble and share industrywide messages that resonate well with consumer values and helps position wine as a compatible everyday lifestyle choice in contemporary culture.

The grand prize winner will pick one of the following four prizes (three runners-up will be given their choice of the remaining gifts in the order of their awards):

  • A weekend for two at Fetzer's Valley Oaks visitor's center and garden in Hopland, Mendocino County, California.

  • A tasting and lunch for four at Beringer's Hudson House in St. Helena (Napa Valley), with the winner receiving a magnum of 1997 Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • A private tour, tasting and lunch for four in a gazebo-setting (weather permitting) at Kendall-Jackson's Wine Center in the Russian River; tour includes the Sensory Garden and tasting is of the Great Estates wines.

  • The Robert Mondavi Reading Collection, which includes Chuck O'Rear's Napa Valley, value $40; Julia's Kitchen Wisdom, value $19.95; and Robert Mondavi Harvests of Joy (signed by RGM), book value $27.
